Traveling Assistant General Superintendent (Utilities Sewer and Water)

Location: Field - Iowa; requires travel throughout the United States 100% of the time, with more than 80% of the time spent traveling.

What you will do

• Support the General Superintendent in managing daily field operations for sewer and water construction projects.
• Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, schedules, crew mobilization, subcontractors, owners, engineers, and project managers.
• Enforce safety policies, OSHA requirements, excavation safety practices, training, and incident reporting.
• Inspect fieldwork and materials, review construction documents, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Track budgets, change orders, extra work, production standards, timecards, logs, estimates, and project reports.
• Supervise, train, coach, develop, and evaluate field personnel while supporting project closeout.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a Superintendent overseeing construction projects, preferably in sewer and water construction, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour, Pipelayer’s Card, Excavation Safety Training, Confined Space Entry, Blueprint Reading, and CPR and First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain them.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, iPad, and iPhone applications.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, policies, reports, and legal documents and coordinate project requirements.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Ability to work 8–10-hour days, occasional weekends, extended hours on construction sites, and in variable weather and physically demanding conditions.

• Working knowledge of HCSS Software Suites, PlanGrid, and Power BI.
