Entry-Level Interior Design Associate (Interior Design)

Location: Lake Orion, Michigan, United States; in-store position with evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.

Training pay: $15 per hour for 2–6 weeks. Post-training base pay: $11 per hour, plus uncapped commission and bonuses. Average annual earning potential after training: $35,000–$55,000+.

What you will do

• Help customers select furniture, décor, accessories, fabrics, colors, and design styles for their homes.
• Create room layouts, customized design presentations, and recommendations based on customer needs and lifestyles.
• Schedule and support professional home consultations, including furniture, fabric, accessory, and installation recommendations.
• Drive store sales by promoting products and the Design program, building customer relationships, closing sales, and following up after purchase.
• Maintain showroom displays, product tags, design center materials, customer records, orders, payments, deliveries, and store cleanliness.
• Support store operations, customer issue resolution, peer training, and opening or closing procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal, organizational, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn product features and design principles, manage competing priorities, and work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work the schedule required by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, pass a background check and drug screen, and meet applicable physical requirements.

Nice to have

• Previous selling experience and the ability to close sales.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Experience with design software or prior design, retail, or customer service experience.
