Data Engineer (Fintech)

Annual base salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD

What you will do

• Build scalable, centralized, and validated representations of diverse vendor and proprietary datasets.
• Review vendor data and documentation, collaborating with external vendors to clarify data behavior and conventions.
• Implement controls to identify and resolve data issues during daily processing.
• Own and evolve the firm’s instrument and security master across asset classes.
• Design and maintain models for reference, fundamental, market, index, and exchange datasets.
• Partner with quantitative researchers and traders while providing technical leadership and mentorship on data quality, testing, and system design.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python proficiency.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with reference data or security master systems.
• Knowledge of identifiers, corporate actions, exchange and venue data, and calendar data.
• Strong understanding of fundamental and market datasets, including index and exchange data.
• Experience with data modeling, unit testing or test-driven development, and Linux.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with data storage formats, filesystems, and event queues.
• Experience in high-frequency trading or a proprietary trading firm.
