Salary: $141,900–$190,300 per year in Los Angeles, CA, or $148,700–$199,400 per year in New York, NY.

What you will do
- Own the stability, scalability, and reliability of the multi-tenant payment platform supporting Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.
- Design, implement, and operate Tier 1 payment services and high-throughput systems processing millions of transactions.
- Integrate new payment processors and support SCA and other regional payment requirements.
- Apply security best practices for payment data storage, tokenization, and PCI compliance.
- Improve system performance, automation, technical debt, and operational reliability through incident response and root cause analysis.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent work experience.
- At least five years of related professional experience.
- Hands-on experience with Scala, Java, or similar programming languages.
- Experience designing REST and gRPC APIs and working with event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SNS/SQS.
- Experience with system design and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Spinnaker, and Kubernetes.
- Strong communication, ownership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with functional programming, Scala, and the Cats Effect ecosystem.
- Experience managing Tier 1 production services, on-call rotations, and incident response.
- Experience mentoring interns and junior engineers.
