TL;DR
Automation Specialist (SCADA/I&C): Developing technical memorandums, control-system documentation, specifications, testing requirements, and PLC simulations for I&C projects with an accent on SCADA planning, industrial control panels, and system implementation. Focus on troubleshooting hardware and software, managing SCADA implementation projects, and resolving system issues with vendors, integrators, clients, and internal teams.
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 40% remote work.

What you will do
- Develop technical memorandums for SCADA master planning, PLC and HMI selection, telemetry studies, and preliminary engineering and design reports.
- Prepare P&IDs, I/O lists, industrial control panel requirements, plans, and specifications for I&C projects.
- Define hardware and software testing requirements and develop PLC testing simulations.
- Troubleshoot control-system hardware and software problems.
- Train clients on hardware and software use for their applications.
- Coordinate with vendors, integrators, clients, subcontractors, and the internal I&C team to resolve SCADA system issues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in SCADA and/or I&C design.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience across all phases of SCADA system design, from pre-proposal involvement through reporting, design, production, and construction.
- Experience managing SCADA implementation projects and working with diverse clients and subcontractors.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
Nice to have
- Ability to become licensed as a Professional Engineer.
- Proficiency in VTScada, AVEVA System Platform, Studio 5000, and Concept.
- Experience with SCADA planning and technology selection projects.
- OT networking and cybersecurity experience.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, XLReporter, or Dream Report.
