Construction Field/Project Engineer | QC Engineer - Mission Critical Projects (Construction)

Location: Ankeny, United States; requires 80% travel to mission-critical job sites

What you will do

• Manage field logistics, project documentation, drawing distribution, submittals, RFIs, permits, and engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, clients, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and landowners.
• Track quantities, production, costs, trucking, invoices, purchase orders, and changes to support accurate billing and budget control.
• Support safety, QA/QC plans, test procedures, site-specific requirements, and on-site safety observations.
• Identify schedule risks and impacts, coordinate utility meetings and deliveries, and help maintain functional job-site facilities.
• Assist with estimating, take-offs, subcontractor and supplier solicitations, bid preparation, and business development events.

Requirements

• Ability to work with construction field concepts in both field and office environments.
• Microsoft Office Suite experience and strong oral, written, presentation, listening, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to motivate and supervise others, apply practical mathematical concepts, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Clean motor vehicle record required.
• Availability for 8–10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, and 80% travel to mission-critical job sites.
• Ability to work around construction equipment, loud noise, variable weather, and uneven terrain; ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of estimating and project management experience in a related scope, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Construction software experience and the ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
