Microbiology Supervisor (Biotechnology)

Location: Onsite full time in Durham, North Carolina, USA. Wednesday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.; the role requires spending at least 40% of each workday in the laboratory or facility.

What you will do

• Oversee microbiology laboratory testing and support for contract manufacturing and process development programs.
• Plan and execute environmental, clean utility, compressed gas, product, and media release testing.
• Develop and execute protocols, reports, method verifications, qualifications, and investigations.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, troubleshoot monitoring methods, and report findings.
• Manage and develop employees and provide qualified training to Quality Microbiology staff.
• Maintain laboratory safety, chemical and biohazard handling, waste disposition, equipment use, and required training compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in a scientific discipline with 4–5 years of technical management experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or a doctorate in microbiology with 1 year of related experience.
• Knowledge of GMPs and regulations for biotechnology-derived products.
• Experience with microbiology monitoring programs, sampling equipment, testing instruments, method qualifications, and investigations.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, data analysis, troubleshooting, collaboration, and team-building skills.
• High integrity, personal responsibility, quality orientation, customer-service focus, and respect for individuals.
