Environmental Laboratory Technician I

Location: Onsite in Richmond, Virginia, USA; overnight schedule Thursday–Sunday, 5:00pm–3:30am.

Salary: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Prepare samples, reagents, and sample extractions for laboratory analysis.
• Determine sample volumes and maintain organized preparation and analysis records.
• Clean laboratory glassware and maintain clean, organized laboratory areas.
• Courier supplies to and samples from client sites.
• Support group leaders and analysts with consumables, chemicals, parts, and inventory.
• Dispose of laboratory waste safely and contribute to projects improving analysis efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s degree or equivalent academic or vocational qualification is preferred.
• General laboratory practices and laboratory safety knowledge.
• Ability to multitask, communicate effectively, work independently, and make sound decisions.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk; lift 50 pounds several times per day and more than 20 pounds overhead.
• Ability to work the overnight Thursday–Sunday schedule from 5:00pm to 3:30am and occasionally work shifts of up to 12 hours.

Nice to have

• Previous laboratory experience.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent formal academic or vocational qualifications.
