Location: Houston, Texas, United States. The role requires regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel to those meetings.
Annual base salary: $139,400–$230,000, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do
- Manage profitability, growth, and retention for a highly complex book of ocean marine business.
- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts in line with risk appetite.
- Build relationships with agents, brokers, and internal business partners to support sales and cross-selling.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop consultative marketing and sales strategies.
- Develop and execute agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
- Coach, mentor, and provide strategic underwriting counsel to underwriters across the region or business unit.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least five years of underwriting experience; ideally eight to ten years in commercial lines.
- Expert knowledge of ocean marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills for complex underwriting, marketing, and financial challenges.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with agents and brokers.
- CPCU designation.
