Mechanical Field Service Engineer (SolidWorks)

Location: Denton, Texas, USA. The role requires extensive domestic and international travel, including installation projects lasting 30+ days and possible uninterrupted stays of up to three months. Work includes visits to manufacturing plants and steel mills, where PPE is required.

What you will do

• Create and modify 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks and convert legacy 2D PDF drawings into modern CAD formats.
• Implement and maintain drawing control through Windchill or a similar PLM system.
• Provide mechanical design support for scarfing machine fluid control, structural, motion, and pneumatic actuation systems.
• Install, start up, repair, and maintain industrial equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, test electronic and electromechanical systems, and implement hardware or software fixes.
• Provide technical customer support, troubleshooting, documentation, and design guidance between projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and at least one 2D CAD system.
• Experience with Windchill or a similar PLM system and engineering documentation standards.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery design, fluid control systems, mechanical design principles, GD&T, and ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to interpret legacy drawings, support manufacturing or field installation, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work in industrial environments, travel extensively, and handle physical demands including moving equipment and products.

• Familiarity with steel industry processes or previous steel mill experience.
