Software Engineer (Java, Core Claims)

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States; hybrid arrangement with in-office work at least 3 days per week for associates within a 90-minute commuting distance.

Estimated base pay: $72,000–$134,000 per year, depending on job-related factors and experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software supporting claims intake, adjudication, and payment processing across multiple markets.
• Build and enhance Java applications and services using established engineering standards and best practices.
• Develop, consume, and support RESTful APIs integrating internal and external systems with Core Claims platforms.
• Write and optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data access logic for data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, quality engineers, and other engineers in an agile environment.
• Support production applications through troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, fixes, code reviews, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Professional experience developing in Java and creating and consuming APIs.
• Experience with SQL Server, GitHub, and JIRA.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and solve complex problems in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript, AWS, Java Spring, or application integrations.
• Prior claims or hirify.global experience.
• Strong research and debugging skills.
• Experience with agile methodology, cloud computing, or enterprise software development.
