Lead Engineer Industrial Automation & Robotics

Location: Based in Celje, Slovenia; Cairo, Egypt; Gebze, Türkiye; or Johannesburg, South Africa, with partially remote work.

What you will do

• Translate Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation priorities into scalable automation roadmaps and investment strategies.
• Define global standards, architectures, technology selections, and best practices for industrial automation and robotics.
• Lead the design and deployment of automation and robotics solutions across manufacturing and warehousing operations.
• Act as the global technical authority, guiding system architecture, key design decisions, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Build strategic partnerships with automation and robotics suppliers and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, process stability, cost efficiency, and operational standardization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, process control, or advanced manufacturing, including projects delivered across multiple sites or regions.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, MES, shopfloor data integration, PLC, DCS, SCADA, robotics technologies, and industrial networks.
• Knowledge of automation architecture, cybersecurity principles, and operational technology infrastructure.
• Project management experience from initiation through operational handover, plus the ability to influence stakeholders in a global matrix organization.
• Fluent English at C1 level required.

Nice to have

• Experience in flavors, food, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
• Knowledge of ISA-95 and IEC 62443 standards.
• Experience with AI-enabled automation, vision systems, or autonomous operations technologies.
