What you will do
- Operate bulldozers and other heavy equipment used for site and highway construction.
- Excavate, move, and grade earth and support construction, paving, and structural work.
- Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and training safety procedures.
- Inspect assigned equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and report defects or repairs needed.
- Identify exposed underground and overhead utilities and review trenching protection requirements before excavation.
- Communicate project-impacting issues to foremen, superintendents, and safety leadership; assist with training entry-level employees when assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, operating hazards, and standard safety precautions.
- OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes and site plans, apply practical mathematical concepts, and follow and communicate written and oral instructions.
- Must be at least 18 years old and pass a drug and alcohol screening, which may include marijuana testing.
- Must be willing to join the union or take the necessary steps to join; must work 8–10-hour days, occasional weekends, flexible hours, and travel as needed.
