Sterile Processing Technician II

Location: Tufts Medical Center; onsite hospital-based role

Pay range: $23.04–$28.80 per month

What you will do

• Receive, sort, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and transport surgical instruments, scopes, equipment, and supplies.
• Select appropriate cleaning methods, sterilization methods, and approved cycles, including steam and hydrogen peroxide plasma.
• Load sterilizers and perform biological monitoring, leak tests, Bowie-Dick tests, and routine sterilizer maintenance.
• Document cleaning, sterilization, tracking, testing, and case-cart activities in instrument tracking systems.
• Build surgical case carts using patient-specific pick lists and resolve missing instruments, shortages, substitutions, and package-integrity issues.
• Provide guidance and training to shift technicians and communicate operational issues with supervisors and operating room personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of central processing experience.
• Central Services Technician National Certification (CRCST) or CBSPD certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of general and specialty instrumentation, hospital procedures, infection control, and medical terminology.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office and instrument tracking systems.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and hear effectively in English.
