Heavy Equipment Operator (Earthwork)

Location: North Dakota; travel within North Dakota only

What you will do

• Operate motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, tractors, and other heavy construction equipment.
• Excavate, move, and grade earth for site and highway construction projects.
• Inspect assigned equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and report defects or repair needs.
• Identify exposed underground and overhead utilities and review trenching protection requirements before excavation.
• Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and project safety procedures while communicating issues to site leadership.
• Assist with training entry-level employees on maintenance and repair duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, operational hazards, and safety precautions.
• OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required.
• Ability to read and understand grade stakes and site plans, apply practical mathematics, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work 8–12-hour days, Monday through Friday, including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required. Employment is contingent on passing a drug and alcohol screening.
