Maryland Title Examiner (Title Insurance)

Location: Maryland, USA; remote

Salary: $23.37–$31.15 per hour

What you will do

• Examine residential title orders and establish the chain of title for real property.
• Search, abstract, and analyze public records, including mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books.
• Determine ownership, legal restrictions, property descriptions, and record completeness.
• Resolve missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information in title documentation.
• Prepare initial title commitments and review title reports for accuracy.
• Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 2+ years of directly related experience.
• State license(s) where required.
• Detail orientation, analytical review, research, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service orientation.
• Standard Microsoft Office skills and proficiency with company operating systems; knowledge of legal terms is helpful.
