News Intern (In-Person) Fall 2026

Location: In-person at the WKRG-TV / wkrg.com broadcast and digital studios in Mobile, Alabama, United States

What you will do

• Participate in supervised newsroom and digital media activities at WKRG-TV.
• Develop news articles and broadcast scripts using professional formats and AP style.
• Capture video, natural sound, and interviews using a phone or camera.
• Edit and organize footage into clear visual news stories using timeline-based editing software.
• Adapt to changing assignments and meet fast-paced journalism deadlines.
• Build professional work samples, industry contacts, and practical experience for a media career.

Requirements

• Current student interested in news, journalism, broadcasting, digital content, or a related field.
• Basic working knowledge of AP style and standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
• Familiarity with a timeline-based video editing program such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• Ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews with a phone or camera.
• Flexibility to handle changing assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to attend in person in Mobile, Alabama; candidates are responsible for their own transportation.

Nice to have

• Coursework or practical experience in Journalism, Broadcasting, Digital Content, English, Creative Writing, Literature, Pre-Law, Political Science, or Criminal Justice.
• Interest in reporting, anchoring, producing, videography, content marketing, public relations, marketing, or promotions.
