Railroad Safety Flagger (UP North)

Location: Colorado, with routine and extensive travel across Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming; overnight stays required

What you will do

• Provide roadway worker protection around live railroad tracks in controlled and non-controlled track areas.
• Coordinate job sites, communicate with train dispatchers and engineers, and manage train and on-track equipment movements through work limits.
• Conduct daily job briefings and ensure roadway workers follow railroad safety requirements.
• Prepare electronic job setup forms, daily work reports, invoices, and other required documentation.
• Place warning and stop signs, install rail derails and locking devices, and handle equipment weighing 15 to 90 pounds.
• Complete recurring safety classes and qualification training while coordinating assignments with RWIC supervisors and managers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• At least 2 years of track and/or construction experience.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role and warn roadway workers of approaching trains.
• Knowledge of On Track Safety requirements, railroad radio procedures, and job briefing practices.
• Ability to place railroad warning and stop signs and install derails with locking devices.
• UP North On Track Worker and Operating Rules qualification, plus proficiency with email, text, and Microsoft Office applications.
