Staff EHS Engineer - Biosafety Officer

Salary: €64,000–€103,040 annually

What you will do

• Co-develop, implement, and maintain the biosafety management program.
• Conduct biological-material risk assessments and create biosafety protocols.
• Coordinate and improve environmental health and safety systems, processes, and practices.
• Lead hazard assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety, biosecurity, environmental, and occupational safety regulations and prepare regulatory reports.
• Train and mentor employees, Standards Owners, subject matter experts, and EHS representatives while collaborating with laboratories, researchers, and operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in biosafety, EHS, or a bioscience laboratory or production environment, with increasing responsibility.
• Certified Biosafety Officer registered at BGGO (Biologische Veiligheidsfunctionaris).
• Strong knowledge of biosafety and EHS regulations and standards, with ISO 14001 experience preferred.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Dutch and English is required.
• Ability to collaborate and influence diverse partners in complex organizations.

Nice to have

• Experience coordinating safety programs in laboratory or production environments.
• Safety Manager Level 3 (HVK) and/or Industrial Hygiene (AH) qualifications.
