Weather Intern (In Person) Fall 2026 (Broadcast Meteorology)

What you will do

• Observe and work with the Gulf Coast weather team while learning broadcast meteorology techniques.
• Practice weather forecasting in a dynamic environment that includes hurricane coverage and storm tracking.
• Participate in community weather safety initiatives.
• Develop basic news gathering, video acquisition, writing, and broadcast presentation skills.
• Build professional work samples and industry connections for future careers in meteorology, forecasting, journalism, or related fields.

Requirements

• In-person attendance in Mobile, Alabama is required; remote internships are not offered.
• Current students, particularly those studying meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or similar subjects, are encouraged to apply.
• Basic working knowledge of weather forecasting, including model interpretation, atmospheric phenomena, and weather safety.
• Basic knowledge of AP style and standards for articles and broadcast scripts.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• The internship is unpaid; students who need academic credit receive priority consideration.

Nice to have

• Experience with timeline-based video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• Ability to capture video, natural sound, and interviews using a phone or camera.
