Confluent - Staff Software Engineer - Kafka Reliability Lead Engineer (Kafka)

Location: Remote within the United States; some travel may be required based on business demand.

Salary: $161,000–$299,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end Kafka Reliability strategy and roadmap for Confluent Cloud.
• Coordinate work across Kafka, Kora Broker, Health Check, control-plane, infrastructure, observability, operations, and incident-management partners.
• Drive broker resilience, degraded-infrastructure detection, automated mitigation, self-healing recovery, and fleet-level observability.
• Improve availability SLO performance, capacity management, chaos testing, and performance and availability testing.
• Convert recurring operational issues into durable product and platform improvements across K1 and K2.
• Reduce operational toil and strengthen reliability as the platform scales across clouds, regions, and customer tiers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Deep experience designing, developing, testing, and delivering software solutions.
• Advanced debugging skills, including designing, developing, and unit testing fixes for complex software issues.
• Experience contributing to automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience providing technical leadership and ensuring software quality through unit testing.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
