Mechanical Engineering Technician III (Mechanical Testing)

Location: Waukesha HQ, United States. Full-time, 2nd shift: Monday–Thursday, 1:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.; Friday, 11:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

What you will do

• Plan, set up, and perform advanced mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, audio, and environmental tests on prototypes, existing products, and competitor products.
• Configure test equipment and products according to testing procedures and laboratory requirements.
• Fabricate and lead assembly of test equipment and prototype products from blueprints.
• Validate bills of materials, laboratory testing methods, and testing competence under ISO 17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.
• Analyze test data, prepare formal and informal reports, and maintain test documentation in database systems.
• Collaborate with engineers on test planning, continuous improvement, corrective actions, laboratory audits, equipment maintenance, and technician training.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least five years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to use mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Understanding of advanced electrical techniques, quality concepts, continuous improvement, statistical methods, and preventive/corrective actions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, lead projects within guidelines, and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to work non-standard or extended hours when necessary and provide a basic personal tool set.

Nice to have

• UL, CSA, or ASE certification.
• ISO training.
• Welding, sheet-metal shaping, milling, or turning experience.
• Project management or project-team experience.
• Experience with specialized equipment such as engine dynamometers.
