TL;DR
Associate Chemist (Metals Preparation): Preparing and analyzing environmental samples using standard analytical techniques with an accent on metals preparation, chemical analysis, and data evaluation. Focus on completing quality-control samples, maintaining laboratory instruments, documenting test results, and following laboratory safety and quality-assurance procedures.

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite laboratory role. The regular schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.; training takes place Monday–Friday on the first shift. Candidates should live within commuting distance of Lancaster.

Salary: $18 per hour.

What you will do

  • Prepare environmental samples using approved standard techniques, with a focus on metals preparation.
  • Perform routine chemical analyses and quantify, record, and report results.
  • Complete assigned quality-control samples, including MDL, LOD/LOQ, and PT samples.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments, glassware, supplies, training records, and work areas.
  • Document quality issues and unusual test occurrences, and communicate them to the supervisor.
  • Follow environmental testing SOPs, health and safety requirements, and quality-assurance standards.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in Chemistry or a related field, an associate degree, or two years of related laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required for reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Ability to work with organic solvents, laboratory glassware, specialized equipment, and extended periods of standing.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and work accurately under close supervision.

Nice to have

  • Previous wet chemistry experience.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or production setting.
  • Experience with complex instrumentation and instrument-specific software.
