Operations Manager (Engineering and Logistics Operations)

Location: Walkden, with positions available in Manchester or Cambridgeshire

Salary: Up to £52,000 per year, plus a location allowance of up to 15% depending on location.

What you will do

• Lead operational performance across depots in the assigned region.
• Manage engineering, transport, workshop, administration, hire desk, and stores functions.
• Oversee contract management, invoicing, documentation, reporting, and customer service levels.
• Improve fleet availability and utilisation through workshop planning and engineering resource management.
• Review operational KPIs, implement improvement plans, and protect profitability.
• Coach and develop depot teams, lead customer escalations, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience managing complex engineering, logistics, hire, fleet, industrial services, or technical service operations.
• Strong leadership experience across multiple operational departments.
• Excellent organisational, planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to improve profitability.
• Experience managing operational KPIs and implementing performance improvements.
• Strong people management, coaching, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in generator hire, temporary power, plant hire, engineering, fleet, logistics, or associated industries.
