2027 Early Careers: Summer Intern, Underwriting – United States, Multiple Locations (Commercial Insurance)

Location: NY-New York; in-person, with interns required to work in the office at least four days per week.

Salary: $25.03–$33.37 per hour for applicants in Colorado, Jersey City, and New York City.

What you will do

• Support the evaluation and analysis of commercial insurance risks, including coverage, terms, and pricing.
• Review underwriting submissions, financial information, loss history, exposure data, and related materials.
• Assist with quotes, proposals, renewals, underwriting documentation, and portfolio management.
• Build professional relationships with brokers, clients, and internal business partners.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, appetite, and risk selection strategies while using data and analytical tools.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Risk Engineering, and Analytics teams across underwriting businesses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree expected no later than June 2028; an unofficial transcript is required with the application.
• Availability for the complete nine-week program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
• Ability to work in the office at least four days per week.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to collaborate, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced team environment.
