System Administrator

Location: Hybrid work from the Austin, Texas office; Austin/Dallas, TX

What you will do

• Administer and maintain Windows Server, Linux virtual machines, and core infrastructure systems.
• Operate, monitor, patch, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot VMware/vSphere infrastructure while supporting planned transition work to Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Support network, VPN, firewall, routing, and connectivity operations with cross-functional technical teams.
• Provide production support, incident response, troubleshooting, and operational recovery.
• Execute infrastructure tasks with clear ownership, status updates, timely follow-up, and documented closure.
• Maintain technical documentation, change records, task comments, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration or a similar hands-on infrastructure role.
• Strong experience administering Windows Server, operating VMware/vSphere, and supporting Linux virtual machines.
• Working knowledge of firewalls, routing, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Experience with patching, maintenance, change execution, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong written communication, operational discipline, and documented task follow-through.
• Ability to work under assigned priorities, collaborate with technical teams, and escalate blockers early.

Nice to have

• Ubuntu/Linux administration experience and basic Microsoft Azure knowledge.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 or similar security and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Cisco Meraki or equivalent VPN solutions.
• Exposure to audit support, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure security controls, business continuity, or disaster recovery.
• Microsoft Hyper-V experience or willingness to support the VMware-to-Hyper-V transition.
