Project Cost Analyst / Project Cost Analyst Sr (Project Cost Management): Coordinating cost analysis and controls for utility projects, including budgets, forecasts, variance reporting, work orders, and project performance data with an accent on cost tracking, accounting integration, and project governance. Focus on building time-phased baselines, analyzing estimate-versus-actual results, integrating contractors and vendors into project budgets, and developing KPIs and process improvements.

Location: On-site in Shreveport, Louisiana or Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. Some overnight travel, overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work may be required depending on the business unit.

Salary: Project Cost Analyst — $80,763–$86,976 annually; Project Cost Analyst Sr — $98,993–$124,940 annually.

What you will do

  • Coordinate project meetings, activities, documentation, planning, and project breakdown structures.
  • Prepare spending and cash-flow forecasts, monitor budget variances, track costs, and perform estimate-versus-actuals analysis.
  • Establish time-phased baseline budgets and provide variance reporting at project and program levels.
  • Create and manage work orders from initiation through in-servicing and closure, keeping project system records current.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, project teams, and other stakeholders on budgets, schedules, contracting, and project performance.
  • Develop KPIs, support project governance standards, train less experienced analysts, and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

  • Relevant education and qualified experience in accounting, business, construction management, engineering, technology, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience with utility operations, project management, cost tracking and analysis, forecasting, project budgets, accounting principles, and construction or maintenance environments.
  • Experience with corporate accounting and project cost management systems, earned value management, and scheduling systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to safely perform light physical duties at AEP locations and various work sites; nuclear assignments may involve hazardous areas and radiation exposure within NRC limits.
