Field/Laboratory Technician I (Construction Materials Testing): Performing laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and rock in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards with an accent on sampling, equipment operation, calibration, and technical reporting. Focus on conducting testing in active construction and industrial environments, maintaining quality and safety procedures, and managing physically demanding field work in variable conditions.
Location: Laboratory and field environments, including active construction sites, roadway rights-of-way, and industrial facilities; occasional travel, night work, overtime, and work in varying weather conditions may be required.

What you will do
- Perform laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, rock, and concrete specimens using ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable standards.
- Conduct field sampling and testing, including field density and concrete testing.
- Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Prepare and document field and laboratory test results for review.
- Support field personnel and project teams during peak workloads.
- Maintain testing facilities and supplies while following quality-control and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Technical or mechanical background or interest in construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering.
- Ability to work in laboratory, field, construction-site, roadway, and industrial environments.
- Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and bending.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment and potentially hazardous conditions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required materials testing certifications.
- Previous experience is preferred but not required; on-the-job training is provided.
Nice to have
- Previous construction materials testing experience.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification.
- ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician certification.
- Additional materials testing certifications or experience with ASTM and AASHTO procedures.
- Local availability.
