Extension Agent, Community Economic Development (Nacogdoches County)

Location: Nacogdoches County, Texas; residence in the county is required. The role supports the office at 203 W Main St #101, Nacogdoches, TX 75961, and requires local and out-of-county travel.

What you will do

• Plan, implement, teach, and evaluate Community and Economic Development educational programs.
• Provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs, small business owners, agribusinesses, landowners, and nonprofit organizations.
• Advise on business planning, financial resources, marketing, budgeting, grant writing, lending, credit, debt management, and business development.
• Conduct community workshops and deliver programs through varied teaching methods for youth and adults.
• Collaborate with economic development agencies, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, local governments, stakeholders, and regional Extension staff.
• Promote the program through media interviews, internet radio blogs, and Extension publications, while reporting program impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; no prior experience is required.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Technical competence in the relevant subject matter and the ability to apply knowledge to solve problems.
• Understanding of youth and adult learning and development, along with knowledge of varied teaching methods.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, multitasking ability, and a cooperative working style.
• Ability to reside in Nacogdoches County, use a personal vehicle, hold or obtain a valid Texas Driver’s License, maintain appropriate insurance, and travel for official duties.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Three or more years of teaching, research, or related experience in community, social, family, health, public service, or similar fields.
