Data Scientist 3 (Applied AI) (Machine Learning/LLMs): Developing predictive analytics, statistical models, and applied AI solutions for enterprise business decisions with an accent on large language models, generative AI, and AWS-based deployment. Location: North Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Hybrid schedule requiring regular in-office collaboration alongside remote work flexibility.
Salary: $114,907–$135,000 annually.

What you will do
- Lead predictive modeling and applied AI initiatives supporting strategic and operational enterprise decisions.
- Build and deploy statistical models, machine learning algorithms, LLM solutions, and generative AI applications.
- Deliver ad hoc analyses, geospatial analyses, and product presentations that communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Partner with IT and Data Delivery teams to enhance infrastructure for real-time, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities.
- Deploy solutions using AWS services including Redshift, Athena, S3, SageMaker AI, Bedrock, Lambda, and AgentCore.
- Research new methodologies and contribute to team upskilling, including AI-assisted development workflows.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of analytical experience with predictive modeling and statistical techniques such as regression, segmentation, clustering, and time series analysis.
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning, LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows.
- Working knowledge of Python or R, SQL, Git, code review, and the machine learning model lifecycle from prototyping through production monitoring.
- Experience with data preparation, profiling, quality monitoring, lightweight data engineering, and model evaluation.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, partner with business stakeholders, and deliver documented, maintainable code.
Nice to have
- AWS certification.
- Experience with geospatial analytics and tools such as ArcGIS, GeoPandas, or PostGIS.
