TL;DR
O&M Plant Technician Lead (Control Room Operator) (Power Generation): Operating and maintaining gas- and oil-fueled electric generating units, including turbines, generators, boilers, HRSGs, transformers, pumps, condensers, switchyard equipment, and auxiliary systems, with an accent on control room operations, instrumentation and controls, maintenance, and environmental compliance. Focus on directing operators and contractors, troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and control-system faults, managing abnormal operating conditions, and maintaining safe, reliable plant performance.

Location: Oregon, Ohio, United States

Salary: $98,993–$128,689 annually. Compensation range: $47.59–$61.87 per hour.

What you will do

  • Start up, operate, control, synchronize, and shut down gas and steam turbines, generators, boilers, HRSGs, condensers, pumps, transformers, switchyard equipment, and auxiliary systems.
  • Monitor control-room systems, alarms, operating data, and abnormal conditions; adjust equipment and report irregularities.
  • Direct outside operators, support personnel, contractors, and other employees during operating, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Inspect, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, interlock, and communication systems.
  • Perform and direct mechanical maintenance, equipment alignment, rebuilds, repairs, predictive maintenance, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Manage boiler and cycle chemistry, water-treatment operations, environmental reporting, work orders, maintenance data, and plant reliability analysis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in power generation operations, maintenance, instrumentation and controls, electrical work, or mechanical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead work activities and provide technical guidance to others.
  • Ability to work safely with plant equipment, control systems, chemical testing, environmental requirements, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work in a medium physical-demand role, including lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally.
