Focus on validating performance models with test data, planning and executing hardware tests, making risk-based engineering decisions, and guiding end-to-end development.
Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role. U.S. citizenship is required. The position requires an active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility and compliance with U.S. ITAR authorization requirements.
Base salary: $115,000–$173,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $135,000–$208,000 USD annually.

What you will do
- Own the development of new and existing spacecraft propulsion and fluidic products or systems as a technical lead.
- Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations, systems modelling, analysis, and system design.
- Gather, define, and manage system requirements across the development lifecycle.
- Plan, set up, instrument, execute, and analyze propulsion system tests.
- Lead technical risk-based decisions, project schedules, task assignments, and stakeholder communications.
- Mentor engineers and technicians and contribute to engineering processes, documentation, training, and reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in propulsion system development or another high-performance engineering field.
- Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility under applicable ITAR requirements.
- Expertise in propulsion system modelling, static and transient analysis, and model validation using Amesim, EcosimPro, Simulink, or Simscape.
- Experience with end-to-end systems engineering, including requirements, detailed design, qualification, production, acceptance testing, and risk-based decision-making.
Nice to have
- Experience with Jama, Python for data manipulation, NX or equivalent CAD software, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar product lifecycle management software.
- Experience with National Instruments data acquisition systems and flight hardware testing and troubleshooting.
- Master’s degree or PhD, hands-on engineering experience, and strong communication skills.
