Extension Agent, 4-H Youth & Development, Brooks County

Location: Brooks County, Texas; the position is based at 219 S Calito Mora Ave., Falfurrias, TX 78355, and requires the ability to reside in the county. Regular travel, including occasional evening, weekend, and out-of-county events, is required.

What you will do

• Implement, plan, and evaluate educational programs addressing critical issues and emerging needs in Brooks County.
• Recruit and train local volunteer leaders for committees, clubs, organizations, and 4-H programs.
• Use varied teaching methods, activities, and materials to provide effective learning experiences for youth and adults.
• Develop outcome and output plans, evaluation strategies, reports, and program summaries.
• Coordinate educational initiatives with county staff, elected officials, agencies, community organizations, and Extension groups.
• Maintain program records, support staff coordination, and participate in professional development and performance review activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; no prior experience is required.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Understanding of youth and adult learning and development processes.
• Strong written and oral communication, multitasking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to reside in Brooks County, access a personal vehicle, obtain or maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License, and carry appropriate insurance.
• Employment is subject to a criminal history investigation and credential verification. The position may be affected if immigration sponsorship is required; Texas A&M University will not pay the potential $100,000 H-1B fee.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Three or more years of experience in teaching, research, or a related field such as family and consumer sciences, health and wellness, nutrition, parenting, social sciences, public service, or dietetics.
