Senior Software Engineer, Data Query Platform (Cybersecurity)

Location: This role requires presence in a U.S. office 1-3 days per week (Sunnyvale/Silicon Valley Metro, Redmond/Seattle Metro, Austin Metro or New York City Metro). Candidates must be U.S.-based.

Salary: $140,000 - $215,000 per year

What you will do

• Write highly fault-tolerant Java code within Apache Spark to produce platform products.
• Design, develop, and maintain ultra-high-scale data platforms that process petabytes of data.
• Participate in technical reviews and enhance product stability.
• Improve efficiency and reduce latency of high-performance services.
• Research and implement new ways for efficient data querying and extraction.

Requirements

• 10+ years of combined backend/cloud and data platform engineering experience.
• 5+ years building data platform products/features (Spark, Flink, Iceberg) and programming with Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
• Proven experience owning robust feature/product design, expertise in algorithms, distributed systems design, and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience building large-scale data/event pipelines and designing solutions with relational SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency with Linux administration tools and test-driven development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go.
• Familiarity with Pinot or other time-series/OLAP-style databases.
• Knowledge of Iceberg, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Parquet, Protocol Buffers/GRPC.
