Technical UI Designer (Frostbite)

TL;DR

Technical UI Designer (Frostbite): Creating UI content for games, partnering with game designers, programmers, and artists to develop features using the Frostbite engine. Focus on implementing UI logic, 2D and 3D layouts, menu flows, animations, AR, and HUDs for AAA quality games.

Location: Remote (UK based only) or studio based at either of our studio sites – hirify.global (Runcorn, Cheshire) or Coconut Lizard (Gateshead, Tyne & Wear)

What you will do

• Work with the team to structure, plan, estimate, and implement features aligned with game goals and technical standards.
• Implement UI features such as 2D and 3D layouts, menu logical flows, animations, AR, and HUDs.
• Use visual programming language to implement UI logic.
• Improve implementation based on feedback, design requirements, and creative direction.
• Report to technical directors and project managers, maintaining a collaborative attitude.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional game development experience working with game engines.
• Experience with Frostbite or a similar engine like UE5.
• Implemented UI screens, widgets, logic, and data flows in collaboration with other game disciplines.
• Experience in rapid prototyping to test concept feasibility with full ownership.
• Experience polishing features to AAA quality and maintaining them throughout the production cycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with other UI systems such as Unity UI, Unreal UI, ImGui, WPF, or Qt.
