What you will do

• Own technical strategy and architecture of payments and banking infrastructure from design to production.
• Build and scale globally distributed systems processing millions of financial transactions reliably.
• Lead development of financial capabilities including payments, banking integrations, and ledgers.
• Drive strategic technical decisions and align multiple engineering teams as a horizontal technical leader.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and collaboration.
• Champion standards around quality, testing, security, and scalability.

Requirements

• Extensive backend/platform engineering experience with payments, banking, or financial services systems.
• Proven experience building global payment infrastructure, financial ledger systems, or complex financial products.
• Strong background in distributed systems, system design, and scalable architectures.
• Working proficiency in English and fluent in Spanish.
• Location: Madrid with hybrid work format.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills with a team-first attitude.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Google Cloud Platform, and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on knowledge of security, compliance, and data protection in financial systems.
• Experience in regulated FinTech or banking environments and scaling systems internationally.
