TL;DR

Senior Fullstack Engineer (Fintech, AI): Building and optimizing high-load backend systems and APIs for an automated decisioning platform with an accent on processing millions of decisions, persisting terabytes of data, and executing large-scale experiments. Focus on designing, extending, and maintaining complex backend subsystems and exposing them through customer-facing product surfaces in a serverless AWS environment.

Location: Hybrid in Berlin, Germany. Relocation services will not be covered for this role.

What you will do

• Build and own backend components using Python/FastAPI on an AWS serverless architecture.
• Design, extend, and maintain complex backend subsystems operating on large volumes of historical decision data.
• Expose backend capabilities through well-structured customer-facing APIs.
• Review pull requests, contribute to architectural decisions, and improve CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with Product, Solutions, and other engineering teams.
• Actively participate in team rituals and shape the long-term direction.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of APIs and production systems.
• Experience building customer-facing platforms.
• Comfort working with large datasets where scale, performance, and correctness are crucial.
• Prior industry experience with Python.
• Experience with AWS services and serverless architectures.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is crucial.
• Location: Berlin (hybrid setup).

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale data technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Athena, or Spark.
• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Exposure to fraud, AML, risk, or financial decisioning domains.
