TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby): Building and optimizing high-load backend services for a distributed data platform focused on checkout, payment, and shipping with an accent on API design, database performance, and scalability. Focus on microservices architecture, solving complex concurrency challenges, and ensuring system reliability under heavy traffic.

Location: Hybrid work model, with offices in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania. 2 days in the office are recommended but not enforced. Opportunity to spend up to 90 days per year on a workation, with 21 days allowed outside of the EU.

Salary: €4,975–€6,725 gross per month.

What you will do

• Work on extracting existing functionality from the monolith into standalone services.
• Contribute to continuously tested and deployed applications by adding more tests, implementing feature flags, and setting up A/B tests.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical systems and maintain service reliability.
• Monitor deployed code using tools like Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog.
• Apply Agile and Lean principles, collaborating with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews.
• Mentor peers by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and helping develop their skills.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Systems Architecture, and Service-Oriented Architecture.
• Knowledge about enterprise architecture patterns, (micro)services, and their pros/cons.
• Enjoy working collaboratively in a team, giving and receiving feedback, and helping others grow.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby.
