TL;DR

Senior 3D Technical Artist (GameDev): Co-developing new games and experiences with AAA partners, focusing on creating new rigging systems, skinning, and leveraging hirify.global’s cutting-edge motion systems for characters. Focus on collaborating with character artists and animators to bring creations to life on the platform, providing technical support, and assisting in partner onboarding.

Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, CA, United States. Required to be onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $163,140–$199,860 USD Annual Salary Range

What you will do

  • Act as a subject matter expert on motion systems and rigging for games.
  • Collaborate with character artists and engineers to rig characters for game prototyping and system validation.
  • Provide technical support and solve problems across the character pipeline for AAA developers.
  • Evaluate internal workflows and tools, bringing industry best practices to the team.
  • Advocate for impactful features and technology improvements with Engine and hirify.global Studio leaders.
  • Partner with community engagement and documentation teams to build tutorials and sample content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or proven experience in a related CG field or computer science.
  • 10+ years experience in the game industry, with experience on multiple platforms (mobile a plus).
  • Ability to envision extensible and efficient methods for 3D content creation in a game environment.
  • Strong understanding of modern real-time engines and tools like Maya and Blender.
  • High proficiency in character skinning, physics, and technical workflows within real-time engines and DCC.
  • Strong knowledge of character kinematics, deformations, and topology.
  • Strong emphasis on creative problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Lua, Mel, and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with industry standard product design processes.
