Location: Must be local to the San Francisco area, United States, and work in office 3 days a week. Starting January 26, 2026, employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles.

Salary: USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area for IC5 level)

What you will do

• Architect and implement advanced Copilot features like Deep Research and Web artifact generation.
• Lead evaluation efforts for models deployed within Copilot and develop evaluation frameworks.
• Design scalable systems leveraging large language models (LLMs) for intelligent user experiences.
• Build data collection pipelines for prompt engineering and LLM fine-tuning.
• Train and optimize content classifiers for context-aware interactions within Copilot.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and research teams to ship high-quality features.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).
• Experience prompting, evaluating, and working with large language models.
• Experience writing production-quality Python code.
• Must be local to the San Francisco area, United States.
