TL;DR
Senior Database Administrator (System Engineering): Own and optimize PostgreSQL and NoSQL database systems on AWS, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability. Location: Hybrid position based at HQ in Eindhoven, Netherlands (1 day per week onsite)

What you will do
- Operate and optimize PostgreSQL clusters on AWS RDS and Aurora, including query tuning and schema design
- Manage NoSQL and caching solutions such as Redis/Valkey and message queues like RabbitMQ
- Design scalable database architectures and data flows in a microservices environment
- Lead cross-engineering enablement programs to improve database hygiene and performance awareness
- Collaborate with platform and product engineers on observability, alerting, and backups
- Drive innovation by adopting emerging PostgreSQL and AWS capabilities
Requirements
- Location: Must be able to work hybrid at Eindhoven HQ (1 day per week onsite)
- 8+ years in database engineering or administration, with 5+ years hands-on PostgreSQL experience
- 3+ years operating PostgreSQL on AWS (RDS or Aurora) with backup, replication, and performance tuning
- Experience with cloud-native SaaS environments and microservices architectures
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, caching strategies, and message queues
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead enablement initiatives
Nice to have
- Experience with data governance, versioning, or lifecycle policies
- Exposure to analytical databases like Redshift, ClickHouse, or Snowflake
- Contributions to open-source PostgreSQL tools or libraries
