Описание вакансии

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Structures (Lead)

A leading US-based technology startup, specializing in the development of cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take on a Lead Structures Engineer role. We are building scalable, innovative, and cost-effective hardware solutions to accelerate the electrification of everything, starting with high-performance converters (inverters & rectifiers) for large-scale renewables and storage.

 Job Overview:
You will be responsible for the full design and delivery lifecycle of high-volume enclosures for our power converters as part of a small, multidisciplinary engineering team. This role requires applying a first principles design approach to a wide range of parts and assemblies, driving designs from initial concept through high-volume production.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Create mass-manufacturable parts and assemblies, including enclosures, heatsinks, plastics, insulators, transformers, connectors, PCBAs, bolted joints, and adhesive joints.
- Ownership: Take full ownership of parts and assemblies, guiding them from initial concept to high-volume production.
- Optimization: Optimize designs using a first principles approach, performing analysis (e.g., structural, thermal, tolerance analysis).
- CAD Work: Create 3D designs and 2D drawings using CATIA V6/3DX or similar advanced CAD tools.
- Hands-on Work: Execute prototyping, testing, and hands-on validation.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and reliability teams, as well as external suppliers.

Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a similar field.
- Experience: 3+ years of full-time industry experience designing mechanical parts or assemblies.
- CAD Proficiency: 3+ years of full-time industry experience working with 3D CAD (CATIA V6/3DX experience is a strong plus).
- Fundamentals: Strong engineering fundamentals, including a basic understanding of electronics.
- Enclosure Design: Proven experience designing enclosures for electromechanical parts or assemblies.
- Manufacturing: Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes such as fastening, sheet metal bending, injection molding, diecasting, and extruding.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

 Nice-to-Have:

- Experience designing outdoor-rated industrial enclosures.
- Familiarity with PCBAs, connectors, fuses, and other electronic components.
- Experience with FEA, CFD, multi-physics modeling (e.g., Ansys, MATLAB, Python, StarCCM).
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Familiarity with medium voltage (34.5kV) or grid-related products (converters, switchgear).

Compensation & Location:
- Location: Scotts Valley, USA.
- Salary Range: $120,000 to $220,000 per year (competitive compensation package includes salary and equity).
- Relocation: Relocation assistance is offered for candidates moving from other US states.
