Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Senior Data Scientist (AI): Building metrics to evaluate and analyze MSN while providing insights for production growth with an accent on understanding business needs, designing robust metric systems, and leveraging big data for reporting. Focus on identifying growth opportunities through business modeling, conducting A/B tests for feature performance, and effectively communicating data-driven recommendations.

Location: This role is based in Beijing, China. Starting January 26, 2026, employees within a 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific Microsoft office are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.

What you will do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand features and drive engagement improvements based on data insights.
• Design and build metric systems and big data pipelines for business evaluation and reporting.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and content performance.
• Conduct business modeling to identify growth opportunities and initiate projects with positive ROI.
• Design and conduct A/B tests to evaluate feature performance and propose iterative improvements.
• Effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience OR Master’s Degree AND 3+ years experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience.
• Enthusiasm to embrace LLM.
• Good communication skills.
• Must meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

• Doctorate in Data Science or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience OR Master’s Degree AND 5+ years experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 7+ years experience.
• Good knowledge/experience on A/B Testing.
• Good knowledge/experience on Big Data processing (like Spark).
