Member of Technical Staff (AI Data Infra): Designing and developing data pipelines for enormous amounts of multi-modal training data, and owning critical data infrastructures. Location: Mountain View, United States. Employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S.) of that location.

Salary: USD $163,000 – $296,400 per year (U.S.) or USD $220,800 – $331,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do

• Design and develop data pipelines that ingest enormous amounts of multi-modal training data (text, audio, images, video).
• Own and maintain critical data infrastructures, including Spark, Ray, and vector databases.
• Build and maintain cutting-edge infrastructure that can store and process petabytes of data needed to power models.
• Partner with the pretraining and post-training teams to improve data recipes by rigorous experimentation.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience.
• Must work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if living within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S.) of Mountain View.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree with 12+ years experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years experience in data engineering, software development, data science, or data modeling.
• 4+ years experience with data governance, data compliance and/or data security.
