What you will do

• Modernise high-impact legacy services by using AI to analyse codebases, understand dependencies, and extract clean APIs.
• Implement strangler fig patterns and other migration approaches to deliver modernised services with comprehensive tests and documentation.
• Ship results quickly, completing service modernisations in fast cycles with monthly milestones and demonstrating measurable improvements.
• Build AI-powered development infrastructure, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI-assisted CI/CD pipelines.
• Create automation using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and LLM APIs, developing reusable AI tooling for other engineers.
• Use AI for all coding tasks, achieving measurable productivity improvements and documenting patterns for sharing.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with Java backend expertise, including modernising production systems at scale.
• Strong knowledge of API design, microservices architecture, strangler fig patterns, and legacy migration strategies.
• Hands-on experience building with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and implementing AI in CI/CD pipelines (code review, testing, security scanning).
• Demonstrated use of AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, LLM APIs) in production work, with proven measurable productivity improvements.
• Experience with agentic AI solutions, AI-powered automation tools, prompt engineering, model selection, and LLM capabilities/limitations.
• Delivery-focused, hands-on approach to writing code daily, with a pragmatic and collaborative mindset.
