What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services (TypeScript, Node.js, PHP) and frontend applications (React, JavaScript, TypeScript).
• Optimize APIs and data pipelines, refactor legacy code (PHP, Lua, JS), and apply performance-optimization tools like Varnish and Memcached.
• Review merge requests from team members and community contributors, ensuring standards for performance, security, and UI consistency.
• Implement and manage unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, diagnosing and resolving full-stack issues.
• Contribute to long-term technical planning for Liquipedia’s architecture, ensuring scalability and maintainability, and monitoring Core Web Vitals.
• Participate in SCRUM planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, collaborating with UX/UI designers, product managers, and the Liquipedia community.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in full-stack or combined front-end/back-end development.
• Strong skills in Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Working experience with one or more of Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience using React and building component libraries from design systems.
• Solid knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong evaluative and problem-solving ability across both client and server domains.
• Fluent in English for clear communication, written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis and Postgres.
• Background in caching, optimization, and performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with Lua or interest in learning it.
• Experience working with the MediaWiki platform.
• Knowledge of web-accessibility standards.
• Experience contributing to open-source or community-based projects.
