What you will do

• Conduct day-to-day work and solve complex technical issues, guiding junior engineers and reporting to leadership.
• Partner with the business to understand how technology aligns with outcomes and advise on software design limitations.
• Integrate applications, databases, and technology platforms to form fully functional solutions.
• Creatively test and maintain software applications following design requirements.
• Take technical responsibility for the codebase health, quality, scalability, and performance.
• Analyze issues, implement holistic solutions, and recommend policy/process improvements for organizational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of Software Development experience (Java or Kotlin strongly preferred) with a strong focus on backend development.
• Solid experience working in high performance, high throughput, highly available, and scalable services in cloud platforms.
• Experience formally mentoring at least 3 individuals.
• Ability to identify business problems and design easily testable and observable solutions, justifying technology choices.
• Strong understanding of highly complex systems, ability to design moderately complex systems, and guide integrations across teams.
• Strong understanding of testing and monitoring tools, advocating for project quality, and establishing operational excellence metrics.
• On-call requirement for responding to emergencies, providing prompt support, and participating in rotations including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
