TL;DR

Principal Brand Designer (AI): Leading the integration of brand identity into AI companion products, focusing on crafting a cohesive and emotionally intelligent personality for Copilot. Focus on translating brand principles into design systems and ensuring consistent expression across all product interactions and engineering implementation.

Location: Onsite in Mountain View, United States (expected to work from office at least four days a week if living within 50 miles)

Salary: $163,000–$296,400 per year (general U.S. range); $220,800–$331,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)

What you will do

  • Champion the intersection of product and brand design for AI applications.
  • Lead creative work to apply brand identity across product features, flows, and user journeys.
  • Drive collaboration between brand, product, and engineering teams for unified ecosystems.
  • Develop and evolve a robust, flexible design system embodying the brand.
  • Own and articulate the product’s visual and verbal style.
  • Mentor and inspire designers, setting high standards for creative excellence.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and 6+ years or Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years experience in product or service design, or equivalent experience.
  • A portfolio or work samples highlighting at least 5 years of experience synthesizing brand and product design.
  • Proven ability to connect high-level brand principles to design system architecture and engineering implementation.
  • Experience setting creative vision for complex, cross-platform products.
  • High level of craft in both visual and experiential design.
  • Expertise in research-led design.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to ensure brand is reflected accurately in product implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, adapting quickly in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
