Software Engineer II (AI)

TL;DR

Software Engineer II (AI): Contributing to the development of robust, distributed services and performance-optimized systems for Microsoft's AI-powered shopping experiences with an accent on personalization, savings, and transparency. Focus on enhancing platform scalability, data modeling, and workflow automation using AI, LLMs, and LLM-based agents.

Location: Hybrid, onsite at least four days per week in Cairo, Egypt. Expected to live within a 25-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office.

What you will do

• Determine user requirements for features in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Support identification of dependencies and development of design documents.
• Create and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing code as applicable.
• Break down work items into tasks and provide estimations.
• Act as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for monitoring system degradation and interruptions.
• Proactively seek knowledge to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Experience: 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding.
• Required languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Security: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 3+ years of experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 5+ years of experience.
