Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer

Location: Must be based in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, or Saskatchewan, Canada

Salary: CAD 200,600–271,400 per year

Overview

Lead the design and evolution of hirify.global’s core metadata infrastructure, shaping transactional database systems at global scale. Drive multi-year technical strategy and collaborate cross-functionally to improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.

What you will do

• Design and operate distributed transactional metadata systems foundational to hirify.global products
• Define and execute long-term technical strategy for metadata database stacks
• Lead architecture and implementation efforts for global metadata infrastructure
• Solve complex technical challenges related to scale, availability, and latency
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering culture and hiring
• Participate in on-call rotations and improve system reliability

Requirements

• Must have 10+ years of software development experience in multiple modern languages (Go, C++, Java, Rust, Python, etc.)
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and transactional databases
• Experience with large-scale, high-availability production systems
• Strong project leadership and incident response skills
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
• Must be authorized to work in specified Canadian provinces

Nice to have

• Experience with metadata systems like RocksDB, Cassandra, CockroachDB, Spanner, MySQL
• Knowledge of consensus protocols such as Raft, Paxos, ZooKeeper, or etcd
• Experience optimizing cache coherence and consistency layers
• Contributions to developer productivity tooling
• Strong technical mentorship and leadership experience
• Disaster Recovery strategy design and management
